How to accept a referral from a friend or contact and track its progress
A referral is shared by a Referrer with someone they think would be interested in the service.
What to do if I received a referral
As the person receiving the referral you have several options
- You can accept it
- You can decline it
- You can just ignore it
Unless you accept a referral, and provide your contact details for verification, at no point will Reco or the provider see or store your contact details.
Accepting a referral
Just click on the link sent to you by the Referrer. This will take you to a page of the form my.reco.tips/ref/[referral code]
When accepting the referral, you may be able to choose whether to share your contact details to receive the introductory offer, or sign up in person anonymously. You can read more about anonymous acceptance of referrals here.
Providing your contact details makes it easier for the provider to follow up. Simply confirm you are happy to share your contact details with the provider, then you enter a name (it does not have to be your full name) and your email address and/or your phone number.
When you click "Send Code" you will then receive a code by email and/or SMS, for each contact type, which you will then use to verify your contact details.
Once this is done you will be sent another message with a link to track the referral as it progresses. This will be of the form my.reco.tips/c/[referral code]. You will have to enter your contact details to view this. On this page you will be able to state that you have received the service, and this will trigger a message to the provider to reward the person that referred you.
Declining a referral
To explicitly decline a referral simply press the "Decline this Referral" button on either the original link you receive or the tracking page link. This updates the status of the referral for both the provider and the person that referred you.
Ignoring a referral
You can also just ignore any links you receive from your friends in relation to referrals, and the referral will be deleted after a period.
